life in current review

i have neglected this blog for quite some time and missed some big milestone moments.

i graduated from college.

thats me and my department chair/one of my favorite professors. im also kind of in love with his kids (they are my kids at work)

graduation

i ended up graduating with honors as a kum loude with a ba in child and adolescent development and minors in psychology and art. im really pleased with the experiences i took in college and the variety of education i pursued. though i was not always impressed with the quality of education, i had some great experiences that led to a huge growth in my as a person.
after graduation, out of pure curiosity, i checked my degree progress report to see what it looked like all completed. to my surprise it listed that i was missing some things toward my degree. one problem ended up being an error on the schools part and the other was a misunderstanding in the requirements between my advisor and i. i got it worked out and i am not set to graduate, just waiting for the clearance and my diploma in the mail.

i was accepted to ucla with the option of entering a special cohort program called impact.

this cohort is the teacher education program, impact, early education option. in english, this program offers a multiple subject teaching credential (elementary school teacher certification), masters in education, and a child development permit at the master teacher level (preschool teacher certification). in addition, as a participant in this program, students are given a $10,000 stipend. sounded pretty good and exactly what i was looking for. so, i already hold the child development permit and the program incidentally will not allow for me to upgrade past where im at currently thus a good sum of the classes will be repetitive to those i already have taken and i can not be exempt from them. as it turns out, there are many strings attached to the $10,000 stipend that are not laid out prior to being asked to sign the contract. in addition, there were several errors in the contract and unanswered questions, it was impossible to get a hold of anyone in the department to answer said questions, and i had three days to make a decision on this program because the woman in charge of the program let the candidate list sit on her desk and forgot to send out the acceptance letters. needless to say i decided it was best not to bind myself to a contract if already i was having difficulty entrusting the supervisors with dates and communication skills. i declined this cohort program but accepted the traditional two year teacher education program at ucla where i will be attending in the fall.
i have been rather frustrated with ucla since this decision as i still have no information. i was supposed to receive information regarding my scholarship by the end of april, it is now june and still NOTHING! i have however been in contact with the person in charge of the teacher education program. i also have no information regarding the course requirements i will have or the specific courses/hours i will not be available in the fall. this has made finding employment especially difficult as i can not commit to anything without this information.
i have been going back and forth with the idea of staying at csun. i never had to accept or decline my acceptance to csun and it has been assumed that i am going there. i have a registration date and continue getting emails about advisement and such. should i go to csun, i would still have a job as much as i can work and it would be about half the price of one of the two years at ucla. financially this would be a smarter option, but i really want something new. i also have not been largely impressed with my education, not to say that i will be at ucla either.

and now im unsure of what to do...
the last few weeks i have been feeling like graduate school is removing me from where my passion is and in the process putting me in debt. i have been feeling lost and unsure of my decisions and sort of trapped. i am exploring a couple of different ideas for the next year and am taking the next few weeks to sort of sort through my choices and make a decision.
